As part of Fotobokfestival Oslo, Fotogalleriet organises a seminar in collaboration with The Norwegian Association of Fine Arts Photographers (FFF) dedicated to the practice of photobooks. In addition, the event serves as a relaunch of the Nordic Photobook Dummy Award and the publication Photography Bound. Reimagining Photobooks and Self-publishing (Silvana Editoriale Publishing, 2023)
On 1 September, as part of Fotobokfestival Oslo, Fotogalleriet co-organizes a seminar dedicated to photobook practices. National and international contributors will address unpublished and yet-to-be- published artists' books. The seminar is also part of an ongoing process to relaunch the Nordic Photobook Award in a renewed format.
The seminar takes its departure from an ongoing performance series specially commissioned to artist Marthe Ramm Fortun where the artist, in the spring of 2019, began to address the obliteration of history and the revindication of feminist perspectives onto art institutions. The seminar asks:
What can become visible or invisible by the printed press and the circulation of photographic material? What power do institutions have to obliterate not only artworks but artist’s lives?
Speakers:
Marthe Ramm Fortun, artist and associate professor at KHiO, Oslo
Nora Joung, artist, writer, Oslo
Moritz Kung, independent curator, writer and publisher, Barcelona
Bruno Ceschel, the founder of Self Publish, Be Happy, London/Milan
Delphine Bedel, writer, curator and publisher, Amsterdam
