Fotogalleriet
26 August - 4 September
Opening hours 12.00 - 17.00
Fotogalleriet will be hosting a library with a broad spectrum of books that all look at the relations between photography and urban spaces. The themes of the books range from urban planning, architecture, car-use in cities, overpopulation and demonstrations to commercialization of public space, studied by artists and photographers from different personal backgrounds.
Alongside the library, the gallery also feature a temporary installation called 'The Big Book' where the curators have invited artists based in Oslo to give the audience a personal glimpse of living in this metropolis. Using the ever-present mobile phone as a photographic instrument was the only requirement for the artists on reflecting life in the streets of Oslo. The result is 10 different approaches bound to a several meter long installation stretched through Fotogalleriet's gallery space.
Also showing is a video installation by artist Adam Magyar containing a selection of clips from his works 'Stainless Video' and 'Array'. The clips are fragments that have been filmed in different cities around the world to reflect the everyday commuting of hundreds of people.
Contributions in 'The Big Book' are from Giulia Mangione, Julie Hrnčířová, Tor Ulstein, Linda Bournane Engelberth, Jason Havneraas, Espen Iden, Christian André Strand, Kathrine McDaid, Jakub Baloun and Goncalo Carvalho.
